About Our Speaker

Michael Schwanke anchors Eyewitness News at 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00 on KWCH. He is also a FactFinder 12 Investigator and assistant news director.

Michael began his career in Wichita 26 years ago as a general assignment reporter. Michael has had many roles in his time at KWCH, which include covering the crime and education beats and anchoring on weekends.

Michael is a two-time Emmy award winner and has won various other awards, including the national Edward R. Murrow for continuing coverage of the Carr brothers’ murder trial.

He is also the recipient of two Emmy’s and two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for his investigative reporting exposing abuses at a Wichita dental clinic for children, and for taking viewers behind the scenes of the Wichita Children’s Home.

In 2017, Michael was invited to testify before the U.S. Senate as an expert on scams and how to prevent them.
